Downtown Julie Brown comes back around
Kristen Lowman, LA Local Music Examiner
Most remember her as an MTV VJ and host of Club MTV in the late 80s into the early 90s. Some only remember "Wubba, wubba, wubba." Downtown Julie Brown’s exuberance and sassy attitude caught the eyes of many, while her not-sp-subtle wardrobe and saucy British accent kept them coming back for more, and captured the hearts of countless fans among MTVs viewers.
Turns out the saucy bird has kept busy in the years since she introduced her last music video. She posed nude for Playboy in 1998, and made cameos in numerous movies and TV shows. The vivacious Brit even leant her recognizable voice to various cartoons including Hey Arnold and Sabrina the Animated Series. With her daughter is all grown up she is ready to be back in the spotlight, and seems to be readying her comeback, attending the MTV Music Awards last year and recently was spotted at Mercedes Benz Fashion week in NYC. And now Julie has bounced back on to the airwaves, this time thanks to the internet and the miracle of video streaming.
That's right, she's currently hosting her own live video show, The Downtown Julie Brown Show along with co-host Carl Williams, her 'Boy Friday' whose credits include owner of the Long Beach Breakers basketball team, actor, model and general entrepreneur. Special guests from the worlds of sports, entertainment, films and music were seen on the show’s August 16th premiere, including superstar actress and singer Darcy Donavan, who will debuted her latest single. The show is captured in front of a live audience at the Jon Lovitz Comedy Theatre at Universal Citywalk in Hollywood where hot talk and good times are sure to light up screens around the world. What will DTJB do next? We’ll have to stay tuned to find out, but we'll definitely stay tuned.
